When most people talk about 'failover' the first thing that comes to mind is 'load balancing' - a load balancer is in most cases a physical, or virtual machine that distributes traffic between multiple servers. In the case of one of those node servers having an outage, the traffic would no longer be distributed to that machine and would instead flow to another server.The obvious problem with this scenario is that the load balancer itself could be 'down' - this then means traffic is no longer distributed to any of the application servers.Our Elastic Cloud platform doesn't rely or depend on a load balancer and instead distributes traffic via DNS. When a node or server becomes unresponsive, DNS will automatically and instantaneously resolve to another node.
